Feeling Like Hell?

Though we’re not doctors (we only like to watch them on TV), LAist would venture to guess that it’s the height of cold and flu season. And there seems to be a particularly nasty bug thingy (you like our medical terminology?) that’s making its rounds in LA and the rest of the country. This particular poster, unfortunately, has been privy to random acts of spewing by her significant other. What we originally thought was food poisoning turned out to be a re-creation of The Exorcist’s spilt-pea soup scene, a million times over.

So here are a few tips for trying to stave off the bugs this season:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly in warm, soapy water. We know it’s been said a million times before, but how many times are you grossed out by people leaving public bathrooms without washing their hands. And you want to touch the door handles after that?? And by thoroughly, we mean long enough to sing “Happy Birthday” or recite the alphabet. No more of this quick rinse and go stuff.

  2. Get plenty of rest. When you’re tired and stressed, your resistance goes down. The body lets its guard down, and those buggies come a-sauntering in.

  3. Exercise and eat right. No brainers. When you’re body is healthy, you have a better chance at fighting off viruses, colds, etc. And even if you do get sick, a healthier body may help lessen the blow. (We don’t know this for a fact, but it sounds good.)

But if you do happen to get that nasty, spewing bug this season, you have our condolences. There’s only one thing that might help you feel better in between bathroom runs: Calling mom.
