No Mail Today

half staff flag

Because President Bush has proclaimed today a National Day of Mourning for the recently deceased President Ford, there will be no mail delivered today and the post offices will be closed.

Federal courts will be closed today, and the City Council meeting is canceled.

However, some places that are often closed on holidays will remain open as if it were just another Tuesday:

All LA city services will be open today. All county offices and services are open today. State courts are open. And public transportation will run on normal schedules.

According to the LA Times, "most of the county's healthcare facilities will be open, but some nonemergency appointments are being rescheduled." So you should call to make sure.

Also most banks and libraries will remain open, but if you see a flag flying at half-staff it's for the Man who Fell Up.
