TV Junkie: New Year's Day

Today - Monday - January 1st, 2007

"118th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade" (the CW, 8:00 a.m. and then again at 10:30 a.m.) from my old hometown of Pasadena

"National Geographic's Most Amazing Moments Marathon"(National Geographic Channel, 12:00 p.m.) How will National Geographic be able to top these moments in 2007? It's gonna be impossible.

"Dukes of Hazzard Marathon" (CMT, 1:00 p.m.) The marathon includes both the "Dukes of Hazzard: Hazzard in Hollywood" and the "Dukes of Hazzard Reunion" episodes!! I'm fittin' to spit with joy!

"The Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. USC" (ABC, 1:45 p.m.)

"World's Strongest Man Marathon" (ESPN2, 2:00 p.m.) Hours of big guys moving big things - lots of grunting: softcore gay porn.

"Punk: Attitude" (IFC, 2:05 p.m.) This documentary from Don Letts gives us the right demeanor for the year.

"The Blob" (TCM, 3:30 p.m.) It's what you might feel like.

"Great Performances - From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 2007" (PBS, 9:00 p.m.) If punk wasn't for you, then start with some culture, namely Strauss waltzes conducted by Zubin Mehta in Vienna, of all places.

"Geraldo at Large" (Fox, 11:00 p.m.) Who let him out? Then again, I can't think of a better way to start the new year than with a little bit of Geraldo.

"Charlie Rose" (PBS, 11:30 p.m.) Charlie takes a page from tomdog and does an appreciation of those who died on 2006.
