Staying in Tonight?

NewYearFireworks.jpg

New Year's Eve is so overrated. Bars, clubs and restaurants charge up the wazoo for drinks and eats that you'd never think about paying any other night of the year. So if you don't feel like dodging drunks on the freeways at 12:15 a.m., stay in, invite a few friends over and toast to 2007 in the comfort of your own home.

While waiting for the ball to drop, why not rent a flick that features some of the best New Year's Eve scenes? Here's the top five according to a recent Fandango poll (as of this posting):

  1. When Harry Met Sally
  2. (38%)
  3. The Poseidon Adventure
  4. (22%)
  5. Poseidon
  6. (22%)
  7. Strange Days
  8. (11%)
  9. 200 Cigarettes
  10. (7%)

Any other suggestions? Let us know.

my favorite new year's eve scene in a movie is probably "boogie nights"

I think I'm going to watch "Family Guy" DVDs tonight - I'm sure as hell not going out.

Or maybe one of the old James Bond movies - you know, one with Sean Connery when he was still hot.

The "Harry Met Sally" scene was great, and deserved to be up there.

Happy 2007, LAist!
