Jazz 102, Clippers 92 - Something about Utah just doesn't sit well with the Clippers. They fell to 1-30 in games at EnergySolutions Arena (yes, it's really called that), and have lost 7 of their last 8 overall. Mike Dunleavy was T-eed up, but if he's fined we're sure he can afford it. The Clippers were on the road the last three games, and will close out the calendar year with three at home against sub .500 teams. One of those stinkers is the Sacramento Kings, who are talking about trading Ron Artest for the Clip's Corey Maggette. For more news on LA's favorite cellar dweller, check out Ryan Young's latest LAist post. Hey, they'd only be half a game out of first if they were in the Atlantic Division.
Ducks 4, Sharks 3 - Despite goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere's second period injury, Anaheim beat the slumping Sharks. San Jose is second in the division behind the Ducks, who maintain the best record in the NHL and are having one of the best seson starts in the history of the league.
Kings 4, Coyotes 3, SO - A Sean Avery goal in the final seconds of regulation tied things up against Pheonix and forced overtime. After a scoreless period, Los Angeles shut out the Coyotes and notched two goals to win in a shoot out. The victory puts the Kings two points ahead of Pheonix, who are in last place in the Pacific Division (but have three more games to play than the Kings).
Elsewhere - As Michigan prepares to play USC in the Rose Bowl, they mourn the loss of former starting center and two-time national champion Gerald Ford. He also happened to be President of the United States. After college he was offered a contract with the Detroit Lions, but they sucked even back then. Ford later became a legend of golf philosophy when he mused, "I know my game is getting better because I'm hitting less spectators."
