San Francisco: 3 Days and 3 Earthquakes

San Fransisco doesn't like being called Frisco

In an alarmist post on Digg.com, someone is feeling like the big one is coming. "Third Earthquake Hits San Fran/Bay Area in Three Days! Exact same spot, and the Bay Area is due for the Big One any day now!"

As commenter PunkRampant points out, there should be no worries. "We get weak earthquakes all the time, ~3 magnitude quakes aren't uncommon. This is a good thing, because if the weak quakes suddenly stopped then that means a lot of tension is building up for a big one."

If that's the case, LA has felt a little quiet lately and it doesn't help when TheWalkingDude comments to beware of December 26th. Iran's December 26, 2003 EQ rocked and killed 15,000. The December 26, 2004 tsunami after an EQ killed a quarter of a million people in Indonesia and other surrounding countries of the Indian Ocean.

If science could predict earthquakes, we would feel safe. Actually, many people feel safe who are not even close to being prepared for a major earthquake.

It may be the holidays so don't let a natural disaster ruin it too much for you.

Buy some water. Get prepared. Happy Holidays.
