Toronto has called you out, LA. Last week they put up a post comparing our city with theirs and Editor David Topping put together this Top 10 Reasons Why Toronto is better than LA.
Clearly they don't realize that LA does have a downtown, it's where the Raptors come twice a year to get their asses kicked.
1. Our phallic symbol in our Torontoist logo is bigger than your phallic symbol in your LAist logo.
2. Our prostitutes don't get killed as much!
3. We have snow! and Tobogganing!
4. For several months every year we're spared that pesky warmth that L.A. residents have to put up with ALL YEAR ROUND. Suckers.
5. You don't need a car to live here.
6. We only have to put up with your celebrities once a year.
7. We don't have a stupid sign.
8. Our celebrities aren't very famous.
9. LA's music festival is called LAMF (heh), and this is its myspace. Toronto's music festival is called NXNE, and this is its myspace.
10. We have a downtown.

NXNE? Gee, I wonder how they came up with that. Toronto sucks. They even lost Hazel Mae to Boston for christsakes! I'm not even from L.A. and I'll respond cause it's so damned easy.
Ten reasons why L.A. is better.
1. No curling
2. Year 'round beaches
3. Fish tacos
4. Real night clubs
5. Sunset lithium
6. USC cheerleaders in them fine sweaters
7. Year 'round golf
8. The DAILY concert lineup
9. Palm trees
10. No sign of any stupid queen
I love Toronto very much. And I do not doubt that it is superior to LA in nearly every way imaginable. But please! Don't dis our downtown! It's our only reminder that we are, in fact, a real city and not a supernova of burbia.
And zona's point #10 is right--our queens are better than yours!

i was there this October and i was stunned by how crappy their traffic was - Sacre Bleu!
And I do not doubt that it is superior to LA in nearly every way imaginable.

My question is... how is #8 a good thing?
i live in LA but i would much rather live in toronto. i'm in TO right now for a business trip and i have to agree that it is the better city. the only things LA has better is celebrities (but who really cares about them unless you're under 18?) and beaches. i'd also rather have 4 seasons.
For those of you that love Toronto so much more than L.A., why don't you move there?
I should just mention that we're just teasing you guys and that we don't have anything against LA up in the great white north. You're all quite lovely/attractive, I'm sure.
And Tony, when I was in L.A., the traffic was infinitely worse than I've ever seen it in Toronto.

Love Toronto - Love LA. They both have their pros and cons I suppose. I think you can make the best of where ever you are. But for the record, LA rules!
TO has stinkier heroin addicts. And if you want hot, go hang out in their downtown in August. 100(F)+humidity.
I like the place a lot, but better?
Don't worry, David, no one in L.A. is REALLY concerned about whether or not anyone in Toronto has anything "against" us. At least, hopefully not.
And, no, we're not all lovely and attractive.
As a former Torontonian (born and raised), let me put in my two cents.
Why LA is better than Toronto:
1. No QEW - you think LA traffic is bad? The QEW is like the 405 on acid.
2. No LCBO - Try buying your liquor from a monopoly.
3. Our women are tanned. Your women appear to have leprosy.
4. No 18-year-olds in clubs.
5. No snow or slush messing up your pant cuffs.
6. Real tacos.
7. Construction on our freeways ends at some point.
8. We have the Hollywood sign =p
9. Good concert venues.
10. The Lakers.

3. A real Chinatown, not some street with cheap crap.
4. Pho is actually cooked by Vietnamese people.
