Joseph Barbera died today at 95. Partner and co-founder of the famed cartoon studio, Hanna-Barbera, he helped give the world such classics as Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, and the Flintstones while earning eight Emmys along the way.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1911, Barbera was originally a banker who lived the American Dream by converting his everyday doodles into characters that will go on forever.
The Hanna-Barbera studios became a subsidiary of Great American Communications Co., which was purchased in 1991 by TBS, and was then absorbed by AOL Time Warner when the two mega corps merged.

The Jetson's intro

It's a sad day. He made millions of kids like me laugh, and lust after Judy Jetson. You younguns missed out on a great cartoon age.
Heavens to mergatroid, exit stage left...
I met him just two years ago for the first and last time. At least his studios in the Cahuenga Pass will remain as a testament to the creative team forever, even if there's surrounded by storage units.
