Tonight - Tuesday

Lakers @ Rockets (CBS2, 5:30 p.m.) If the NBA consolidated these two they'd be the Lockets which sounds better anyway, what the hell is a Laker, some kind of ship?

"Friday Night Lights" (NBC, 8:00 p.m.) Cheerleader competition becomes the focus for the town as well as additional male viewers of the show.

"Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas: 40th Anniversary" (ABC, 8:00 p.m.) I'm a mean one, so you'd best watch the classic.

"NCIS" (CNS, 8:00 p.m.) Secret robot kills an officer secretly. This is followed by a new "The Unit" - Do LAisters watch Tuesday primetime CBS? Some feedback please. Thx.

"The 8th Annual Family Television Awards" (the CW, 9:00 p.m.) D-list celebrity alert!

"House" (Fox, 9:00 p.m.) Ok, so this is the new episode -- and it will be insultingly Xmas themed, with a sick "little person" even

"Nip/Tuck" (FX, 10:00 p.m.) Season 4 finale!

"Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006" (ABC, 10:00 p.m.) Agassi, Jay-Z, Patrick Dempsey, and, I guess, 7 more

"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" (Comedy Central, 11:00 p.m.) Newsweek International editor Fareed Zakaria

"The Colber(t) Repor(t)" (Comedy Central, 11:30 p.m.) Sex columnist Dan Savage(!)

"The Late Show With David Letterman" (CBS, 11:30 p.m.) Howard Stern(!!), Gwen Stefani performs -- hopefully not that stinkin' robot song again

"Jimmy Kimmel LIVE" (ABC, 12:05 a.m.) The not-difficult-to-look-at Jessica Biel, the not-so-easy-to-look-at Mario Batali, Fantasia performs

"Late Night With Conan O'Brien" (NBC, 12:35 a.m.) "The Office" creator Ricky Gervais, the Matt Savage Trio performs

Re: Lakers

Yeah, the name is a bit off for LA, but, and I'm probably telling you what you already knew, the team was originally the Minneapolis Lakers, from Minnesota, the land of 1,000 lakes. It stuck when the team moved West.

The same thing happened with the Dodgers too, they of course originated as the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers, and Angelenos had ceased dodging trolleys only four years after the Dodgers moved here; Red Car service ceased in 1961, and the Dodgers moved in 1957. So I guess with the Blue Line's checkered record on surface streets in South LA, maybe the Trolley Dodgers moniker is again appropriate. :)

I am ignorant Aaron, thanks for filling the void a little bit more!

Uh, aren't the Lakers on KCAL9?

Also, I watch NCIS, CSI Miami (regarding your previous CBS Monday question), but am not necessarily beholden to any night on any station.

Hey - Stern was alright but Opie and Anthony were hilarious last night and did some great Howard Stern and Tony Danza impersonations.
