LAst Night's Action: USC Knocked Out of Football Championship Twice This Week

In order to make hockey more exciting, the NHL has loosened restrictions on Karate kicks.

Predators 4, Kings 1 - After getting roughed up by the Ducks a couple days ago, Nashville headed up the freeway to take out their aggression on the Los Angeles Kings. The Predators scored three power play goals and added one short-handed. They pulled away in a second period marred by five minor penalties on the Kings, two of which were converted. The Kings are just two points out of last place in the Pacific Division, looking up at Anaheim, San Jose, and Dallas. Those teams have three of the top five records in the NHL.

USC 3, UCLA 2, Bruins Still Win - Despite losing to UCLA in an anemic offensive performance on Saturday, two Trojan wide receivers and an offensive tackle were named first team All-Americans. UCLA defensive ends Justin Hickman and Bruce Davis also earned first team honors. After seeing Saturday's game, we know why.

Elsewhere - USC was supposed to go to the "other" football national championship, but they had a ringer ... Sports Illustrated On Campus has a practical review of the NCAA soccer championships, which featured a major upset of UCLA by UCSB ... Global marketing phenom and bench-riding soccer player David Beckham may be coming to Los Angeles. Or he may not. In unrelated news, peroxide futures are rising ... As the LA Sparks new owners were being introduced, team superstar Lisa Leslie decided to announce that she's preggers. K-Fed was unavailable for comment ... The LA Times has a cool story on an old-time high school football game.
