Helicopters over Universal City

lapdheli.gifHelicopters
Today, LAPD's Air Support Division (ASD) celebrates its 50th anniversary of continuous flight operation. Did you know that the City of Los Angeles has the largest non-military air force in the nation? 18 helicopters is why we always hear them floating around.

Universal City
Today at 3:00 p.m., Mayor Villaraigosa and Universal Studios President Ron Meyer will announce a blueprint plan for shaping the future of the property, which hosts the world’s largest working motion picture and television production studio. Just south of NoHo's sprouting transit oriented development, get ready more of the same at the Red Line/Ventura Blvd. corridor intersection. Now, how about a Ventura Blvd. subway to go with that?

okay, this is kinda random, but i have a question...

the other day i was checking out the stellar view from my BF's Highland Park craftsman and i noticed that there was a house that had the house number and street name painted in large white letters on the roof. i assume this is for the LAPD helicopters to keep track of where they are, but my questions is this: is painting numbers on a home's roof something that the city requires in certain areas? and if so, are the owners of the house compensated in some way?

i dunno if anyone can answer that, but i just thought i'd bring it up...

You don't know the half of it regarding the Universal plan!! Goodbye backlot; hello Century City of the Valley!
