Angus Burgers Being Tested at Six LA McDonald's

angusyoungbrg.jpg

Despite the fact that McDonald's has tried to palm off salads, wraps, grilled chicken, and other healthier options to its hamburger-based mainstay, Angus burgers have made their way onto the menu at a half-dozen area Mickey D's.

And we're just not talking one Angus burger that can be found in several McDonald's restaurant, like one found in South Pasadena, but three different burgers: Regular, Mushroom & Cheese, and Deluxe.

Clearly feeling the heat from its main competitor Burger King who has had an Angus burger for several years now, McDonald's says that they've gotten good reviews so far here in LA during their tests.

Outsiders might think that Los Angeles, home of healthy lifestyles, vegan restaurants, and carb-obsessed nutritionists would be a poor choice for the test of this import, but LA has also successfully championed a wide variety of burgers from Tommy's, In-N-Out, Fatburger, Carl's Jr., Jack in the Box, just to name a few.

LAist recommends that if the fast food giant wants a sure winner for its new burger, they sponsor AC/DC's next tour, as Angus Young, their iconic leader, is one of the most revered guitarists in rock history and their catalogue of hits has sold over 100 million units. Put a code in each Angus burger value meal that would allow for a free download of a new AC/DC song and everyone would win.

"Download" and "AC/DC music" don't mix well. They're worse than the Beatles and Metallica combined when it comes to making sure that nobody can listen to their music in any format other than the kind you have to drive to Tower Records (oops) to buy in little plastic boxes.

really? i wasnt aware of that.

they always seem to come across as mellow dudes in all the interviews ive seen them in.

they must have tightass lawyers whose sole intention is squeezing every drop they can from licensing their music to commercials.

youd think the band would be happy with 25 years of selling out arenas, several multi platinum albums, and every sports arena playing their songs during sports events.

maybe the band is happy, its just the lawyers and accountants who are anal?

either way, thanks for the info.

Yeah, I have no reason to blame the band themselves on this one. I share your general good vibe of them.

On the radio, here in LA, I heard that participating McDonalds were giving away FREE angus 3rd pounders from Mar 8-11.

Anyone else hear this?

I plan to check out a few McD's to see if they are really doing it.

I hope it wasn't false advertising.
