LAst Night's Action: 2 Lakers, 1 Wave Get Comfy On Bench

Kobe may be a gimp, but he still hasn't let LAist win a pickup game.

Lakers 101, Pacers 87 - The Lakers won their third in a row to stay atop the Pacific Division in a commanding win over Indiana. Kobe Bryant scored 21 but left the game in the third quarter with a sprained ankle. He returned to the bench shortly after going to the locker room. Before the game, coach Phil Jackson benched starting center Andrew Bynum due to questions over his work ethic, though the 19-year-old was defended by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. In other Laker news, the NBA released a video today of the Laker's holiday fishing trip to benefit homeless children. Watch Ronnie Turiaf practice his enunciation.

USC 0, World 4 - It's been a rough couple of days in Troy. We all know about the football game against UCLA. On Monday, the women's basketball team lost to Utah and the men lost to Kansas. On Sunday the men's water polo team lost the national championship game to Cal on a tipped shot with less than a second to go. Ouch.

Elsewhere - UCLA is still on an emotional high after smacking USC on the gridiron, and their #1 ranked basketball team easily dispatched UC Riverside Sunday. But they did lose the men's soccer national championship to UC Santa Barbara. USC fans wonder if this means there is a god, after all ... Pepperdine's Willie Galick is averaging a foul every 3.1 minutes, and twice fouled out of a game in less than 10 minutes (the team has played just 7 games) ... A local prep basketball team has three players between 6'11" and 7'1", but the 5'10" guy was the star on Sunday.
