Star Wars Holiday Special Cartoon

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there was the coolest movie ever: Star Wars.

As it was loved by men, women, and children of all ages, a year after the movie was released it was decided to produce a Christmas Special that would appear on CBS, some think aimed at kids. The two hour "holiday" special was so bad that even children hated it. Roundly panned, it was deemed by one critic as "the worst two hours ever on television."

Nobody, it seemed, wanted, among other things, to hear Princess Leia sing the "Star Wars" theme or to follow Chewbacca's family on adventures.

The only saving grace was this cartoon that shows the first Boba Fett and an R2-D2 whose body defies the laws of physics (in that its metal stretches as if it were skin).

The special aired just once and was never rerun, neither has it been released as a video or a dvd. For good reason. Some say little Osama Bin Laden saw it and it is what made him turn into an evildoer. Regardless, there is an online petition to get George Lucas to produce a dvd of this mess; its 25th anniversary came and went, and thankfully a new generation was spared the misery that LAist had to go through as a young 'un.

Anyways, here are the best 9 minutes of the worst two hours of tv history.
