For a city that loves their superstars so much, Manny Ramirez might leave Boston and nobody would care... unless he goes to the Yankees. But the best rumors have him coming to Chavez Ravine.
As much as LAist loves baseball, the Dodgers, and Dodger Stadium, it's been hard to cheer for anyone lately in Dodger Blue not named Nomah. Manny could solve that problem.
Here's what people in Beantown are saying:
"I think Manny is less than comfortable playing in Boston for whatever reason, that's his right. I think it's gotten to the point now where there's some thought that even though Manny might stay, he might not be here if he does. And I think the belief is that trading Manny and bringing somebody in would be more valuable than having a Manny here that didn't play. I don't know that to be a fact. That is pure speculation on my part." - Curt SchillingAs much as we love the kids, another Hall of Fame bat sure would be nice to have in the lineup and maybe it would encourage all of those empty (and yet somehow sold) seats to get filled. It would appear to be a given that RamÃrez would demand, as a condition of any trade, that a team pick up at least one or both of his option years -- at $20 million per -- or negotiate a contract extension. Among other reasons he might be conducive to a trade to the Dodgers: He enjoyed a good relationship with manager Grady Little and was close to hitting coach Eddie Murray when they were teammates in Cleveland. - Boston Globe
Manny-to-L.A. makes sense because the Dodgers have the right combination of young players to make this deal work. Guys like Matt Kemp, James Loney and others could get the attention of Theo Epstein and the Red Sox' brass. - ProTrade

how fuckin sweet would that be to pick up manny? i think the dodgers have the most to offer in return.
Big Papi, then we're talking heaven. But Manny. Between him and Nomar heaven in LA just got sweeter.
red sox west would be (infinitely) improved ... and manny is a perfect fit for the "carefree" dodgers, but i keep hoping (against hope) that andruw jones - and NOT j.d. drew - somehow replaces manny in boston ...
in fact, i'd almost rather have manny sulking on the bench in boston than have boston waste millions on perennial d.l. - i mean j.d. - drew ....
dude how about andruw jones to the dodgers? thst would be awesome. Curacao kid can HIT. (Manny would be good too).
.308, 40 HR AND 130 RBI every year? I would like to see Manny be Manny in Chavez Ravine. He would have plenty of runners to knock in with our new 1-2 punch of Pierre-Furcal.
Be careful what you wish for, gang. If Manny comes to L.A. then decides he doesn't want to be a Dodger, then he'll show up when he wants to for the duration. This line about Boston loving their stars is crap when it comes to this guy. There will be no love lost no matter where he goes.
