Michael Richards Definitely Not a Jew, Now Not a Mason Either

nigga what?

Last week Michael Richards hired a mouthpiece because his mouth was clearly defective. PR genius Howard Rubenstein (David Blaine, Worldwide Pants, Danielle Steel, News Corp) was called in to put out the fire and one of the first things that he addressed was the issue that the actor most-commonly known as Kramer went off in April on an anti-Semitic rant while on-stage.

Rubenstein basically said it was kosher because Richards "is Jewish. He's not anti-Semitic at all. He was role-playing." The Jewish Journal disagreed so LAist chose to believe the side of the JJ instead of the PR.

Well this week our two sources cleared things up together. Rubenstein called the Jewish Journal and fessed up that Richards was neither born Jewish nor converted but "he believes in Judaism, and that's what he's adopted for himself."

Which still doesn't make him Jewish.

In our post we mentioned that Richards, who was born Catholic, is a practicing Mason. Rubenstein, who seems to be talking to everyone who will call him up, told Radar that Richards has hung up his fez.

"He doesn't practice Masonry anymore," Rubenstein said. "His final conclusion is he feels that he is Jewish. That's what he'd like to be."

LAist feels 7 feet tall. Does that mean we can play power forward for the Lakers? We also feel like we are the in-house blogger at the Playboy Mansion, so cya suckers.

As far as I can tell, there are two ways to become Jewish:

1. The woman who gives birth to you is Jewish.
2. You elect to go through the arduous process of conversion.

I don't think you can just "adopt" Judaism. What a dumbass.
