The Grates @ Spaceland 11/14/06

Patience Hodgson had no patience. It wasn't even 15 minutes into The Grates' set at Spaceland Tuesday when she ran out into the crowd, made everyone form a circle and started dancing in the center with her ribbon-stick. Controlling the universe with school girl glee and giddy excitement.

The happiest music to have come out this year was played in its entirety at the Silver Lake club as every track of the trio's "Gravity Won't Get You High" was performed with as much contagious energy and excitement as you'd expect if you'd stumbled into a warehouse of leaky nitrous oxide tanks.

Donning a puffy skirt, silver belt, and ballerina shoes, Patience hopped and twirled and spun and howled to an adoring crowd which included Annie Hardy of Giant Drag who congratulated the singer after the show as fans waited in awe for an autograph. LAist included, who scored the playlist and agreed with others that it was even better than the show in July.
