LAist Weekly Frosting In A Can Review

This week’s pick: Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Triple Chocolate Fudge Chip
When you first crack the lid of 15.5 ounces of fine Betty Crocker culinary delight, you expect an aromatic blast of chocolaty goodness. That won’t happen, because there’s a foil seal. Once you overcome that pesky obstacle, you will be greeted by a dark and decadent looking substance that beckons your spoon. As you take that first exquisite bite all you can think is … “Oh! That’s why it says to stir first.”
After it's mixed up and returned to its natural light brown state, Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Triple Chocolate Fudge Chip starts to remind you of the frosting that people smear on cupcakes. Probably because it is. The only major difference is that each bite is packed with Hershey’s semi-sweet chocolate chips. While savoring the fudge flavor of the frosting, it’s pretty much impossible to tell what the chips taste like. You’ll start to wonder if they even have any flavor at all. Maybe they’re just chips of hardened butter. Maybe Betty Crocker has started to cut a few corners. Oh Betty! Why have you forsaken us?
After a dozen or so spoonfuls, you’ll start getting sick to your stomach and ask yourself, “Why did I want to write a review about frosting?” and “Why did I insist to my roommate that I could eat the whole can?” Then you’ll realize that you just started a “weekly” review, and may have bitten off more than you can chew.
