It's all topsy turvy! Go East for gold!

metrogold.jpg

A few more years and we can go from Dim Sum to Sushi fun. Today marks the day where the Mayor and other MTA officials will have a Total Recall moment, sans the Governor: a 2 million pound tunnel boring machine will breakthrough the earth marking the end of an 1.7 mile eastbound tunnel for the Gold Line extension tunnel burrowing, which goes from First and Boyle to First and Lorena.

If you are not familiar with the Gold Line East Extension, it should not be confused with the extreme Eastward Gold Line extension dream to Montclair. We're talking about staying local in East LA between Union Station and Atlantic Avenue with Little Tokyo between. The extension is scheduled to open in 2009, but you can currently use Gold to go from Union Station to Pasadena and a smidgen beyond.

I lived in Long Beach, close to a Blue Line station, but moved out a year after it arrived. Then I lived in Pasadena and moved out a few years before the Gold Line arrived. Now I live in Monterey Park a mile from the end of the Gold Line east extension, but I'll probably move out in 2008, a year before it opens.

Both links go to info about the Montclair extension.

Expand the red line to fairfax and Sunset/Santa Monica/Melrose/Beverly!

Can you imagine the red line going to the Beverly Center!!?

Whats going on with the mythological Silver line?

I think the Silver Line is just a dream at this point, but I'll look more into it.
