Korean BBQ Socials are Becoming Popular in LA

They already were popular but new ones continue to pop up. Many Angelenos are enthusiastic to tell friends and coworkers about their new obsession with Korean BBQ houses, properly named Galbi Houses. Korean BBQ is quickly becoming the new Thai food, and it’s becoming all too frequent that one of my peers will ask, “Have you been to Manna yet?” Yes, I have.

Galbi houses traditionally serve up raw dishes of galbi and bulgogi style meat, which customers cook themselves at their table over a gas stove (embedded in the table). These dishes are served either marinated or not – in the case of Manna, a popular K-Town destination, the meats are not marinated. The BBQ is all-you-can-eat, and served alongside a traditional salad as well as numerous side dishes including kimchi and daikon radish.
