The Wind Cries Mary Worth

We used to love reading the Sunday comics. All of them - from Peanuts to Rex Morgan. Even the ones we hated, we read. Okay, so maybe we didn't love the comics. Maybe it was more of a dependence on reading the comics than loving them. We sort of felt lousy each time we were unable to skip over The Family Circus and Ziggy, when we knew they would at best be unfunny and at worst piss us off. But as addictions go, this was pretty innocuous.

At some point, however, the disease lost its grip on us. Maybe it was the passing of Charles Schulz, or the suck-ass LA Times "innovation" of putting the Sunday comics in the Saturday paper, or... who knows. For a moment, we were free. But then it happened: today we came upon Josh Fruhlinger's website The Comics Curmudgeon. And we've been in a maelstrom of Molly the bear and Aldo Kelrast ever since.

A gathering of people who can't stay away from the comics they love/hate, Comics Curmudgeon is more of an enabler than it is a recovery group. And we feel like Nicole Richie with a new pro-ana site in her bookmarks. Added bonus: they directed us to a link of YouTubers who have conveniently encapsulated Meddlin' Mary story lines into one-minute episodes for our viewing pleasure.

I fell off the comics wagon while living overseas (other countries comics BLOW). But I've found a way to get the ones I like, it just takes two things - a little Googling, and Comictastic. Happy happy comics with my java.
