LAist used to work with people who would make us think "am I the crazy one here?"
While in Pasadena yesterday stumping for Phil Angelides, John Kerry dissed George Bush by saying that if he was smart he wouldn't have ended up in a quagmire in Iraq.
And you've gotta hand it to the Republican Spin Machine, they're doing their best to pretend like Kerry was talking about the Troops. As if.
Later Kerry explained that he's proud of his time in the military, and duh he was talking about Bush.
After the jump, someone actually making a joke involving the dangerous wild goose chase the troops were sent on:

Well how could he have been talking about Bush, because when they released his academic transcripts Kerry actually did worse at Yale than Bush did! Wouldn't make much sense to insult somebody for being stupid or uneducated when they did better than you at the same school.
It also wouldn't make much sense to actually believe that George Bush was ever a good student or even earned those alleged grades.
There is a very short list of people who think "smart" when they think George W. Bush. Are you on that short list, marshall?
Of course, that's not what Kerry said, Tony. But don't let the truth get in the way of you bias.
You're right, I am biased in that I truly support the troops: I don't like them used as pawns like they are in Iraq, I don't like them used as pawns like they are now in this issue by Bush and the Righty bloggers, and I don't like to see them used against veterans like they are against Kerry.
The man volunteered for Nam. He is a war hero. Only a draft dodger who also thinks that there's an "s" at the end of Internet would suppose for even a second that Kerry was talking about the troops.
The desperation of the GOP has gotten so low that they have to now create reasons for people to find them slowwitted and vile. They have no record to run on, they have no ideas for the future, they have run out of ways to be corrupt, and they have run out of creative ways to give the President more power. Now that Clinton barked back at Fox News they think they have to try to jump on Kerry.
Some ships sink quietly with class
some sink like this.
Congratulations. This is the first news article to actually try and pretend to defend John Kerry's "joke." Really, the Democrats are better off throwing Kerry out of the Democratic party and forcing him into early retirement to his mansion in the Northeast. If the Democrats don't take the Senate you can thank the lackluster ex-Presidential candidate. I don't think the Democrats had any business running him ever, but that's just me.
By the way, both Bush and Kerry were bad students at YALE! YALE! A school in the ivy league, a league famous for grade inflation, purchasing grades and affirmative action.
