Win a pair of Tickets to see the Dixie Chicks

Dixie Chicks Contest

LAist loves the Dixie Chicks, and we have a feeling our readers do too.

Somehow we were able to get our grimy little paws on two pairs of tickets for two of you to see the Chicks November 24 at Staples.

Now since the Dixie Chicks have become known for telling it how they see it, we figured that would be a good way to hold this contest. In the comments below, tell us which one Candidate, Measure, or Proposition you feel strongly about and that will be your entry.

Keep in mind that your email address is required so we can contact you if you win. So make sure that it's accurate. It will not be visible to the public. And the winner will be picked at random, so don't feel like your opinion is being judged - who do you think we are?

The deadline for entries is 4:20p tomorrow, 10/26. The winners will be announced Friday.

Yes on 86 -

If the tobacco companies are so against it, I'm guessin' it's a good thing.

Yes on 86!

If the tobacco companies are so against it, I'm guessin' it's a good thing.

I'm voting for any candidate that isn't Ahnold.

Yes on 87

It's not perfect, but it raises awareness of renewable energy.

Vote NO, NO, NO on Measure R. This thing is a trick cooked up between politicians and lobbyists to lengthen term limits and weaken ethics laws. It purports to limit the power of lobbyists and special interests, but it was written BY lobbyists and it's being bankrolled by special interests. (Billionaire developer Phil Anschutz has dumped more than 50 grand into it.) Why? Bcause they know that Measure R will allow lobbyists to avoid registering their work with the city and remain hidden from public view.

Then there's the concerted campaign of deception that began with the City Council rejecting the City Attroney's ballot title that acknowledged Measure R will LENGTHEN term limits. They chose instead to say it will "extend" term limits, and then they went to court to defend that choice and give less information to voters.

Now there's this bogus mailer they're sending out that says Prop R will create term limits "so that no councilmember can serve for life." They can't serve for life now! They are subject to a strict two-term limit, and Measure R will extend that limit.

Look, there's got to be a reason why the LA Times, the Daily News, the Wave, the City Attorney, the City Controller, Councilmember Rosendahl, the Hillside Fed. and OVER 75 other community groups, neighborhoods councils, residents associations and local leaders have all agreed this thing stinks. VOTE NO ON R!

Yes on 87!

I'm all for less dependence on foreign oil and increased energy choices.

This is very telling:
(from http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/state/15110994.htm )

The "No on 87" campaign is far ahead in fund raising, having collected more than $10.5 million, almost all of it from the oil and gas industry.

The "Yes on 87" campaign has collected nearly $4.8 million, with most of the money coming from venture capitalists or environmentalists.

No to all propositions and measures.
Let us learn to live within the laws we currently have, and start carving away at them instead of adding more and more layers. Reduce, reuse, recycle should apply to the ever increasing legislation as well. Just say no to more laws, and act.

Yes on Prop. 83! Lets keep our children safe from sexual predators.

YES on Prop. 83.

Why this was not written in to the laws in the first place is a crime! Habitual sex offenders and child molesters are, just that, habitual. Keep the monitoring heavy on them and get them off the streets.

Please.
