LA Boy Scouts Bend Over to the MPAA

boyscoutbadge.jpg

The modern day saints in the movie industry have somehow convinced Los Angeles Boy Scouts that the virtues of copyrights are on par with first aid and citizenship. So, yes, modern day LA Scouts can get a merit badge for showing that they demonstrate an understanding of digital law. Take that, knots!

Scouts will be instructed in the basics of copyright law and learn how to identify five types of copyrighted works and three ways copyrighted materials may be stolen.

Scouts also must choose one activity from a list that includes visiting a movie studio to see how many people can be harmed by film piracy. They also can create public service announcements urging others not to steal movies or music.

LAist hopes that the movie industry will also influence the scouts to offer badges in Sexism, Objectification, Sequels For Suckas, Special FX Over Writers, Violence Good Sex Bad, Filming in Canada to Screw US Unions, Sticking it to the customer at the Snack Bar.
