In an undisputed landslide of mythical proportions, LAist contributor and performance artist Zach Behrens last night was sworn in as a councilmember of the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council.
Running unopposed (because, come on, who would dare compete with someone who contributes to this fine blog), Zach racked up an impressive 32 votes in the ridiculously apathetic Valley election.
Zach has been a tour-de-force here at LAist, and if we find out that his council work is affecting his output on this group blog... well, let's just say that he won't run unopposed when re-election time comes around, whenever that is.
In all seriousness, we are very proud of the newest Councilmember, and we are confident that he will be just as successful doing whatever the hell it is that those people over there do as he has been writing about LA and the Valley on LAist (and on ShermanOaks.blogspot.com).
LAist has seen incredible growth this year, and a lot of that success has to do with Zach. We look forward to seeing him help put Sherman Oaks back on the map.

YAY congrats! Let's go get a drink!
Congrats, Zach!
Next stop - the Mayor's office!
Careful what you wish for, Mr. (Neighborhood) Councilman. These councils can be quite draining. But, if any one can do it - you at least have a sincere, altruistic intent.
so great!!! congrats Zach!!! bikes bikes bikes!!!!
Congrats, Zach! Ms. Cleo sees big things!
Hey Zach,
Congrats man, you really deserve it. I haven't seen anyone so passionate about his own community outside of the hardcore conservative mindset. Liberal local action, way to go!
That's awesome. Congratulations.
