People Really Do Win on LAist - LA Weekly Detour Fest

Hey Tony,

I was totally on the list, totally went, totally had a good time!

So, because I am sort of lame, my date and I got there sort of late (Missing Red Kross and Blackalicious (who we wanted to see, !!! might've been cool too)...)

But, Basement Jaxx were insane. In some ways the most entertaining thing I've seen in forever. We got there just in time to see their set start. Parking was nuts, so we parked on the hill street bridge.

Peeping Tom (wasn't fantomas...) but was still ok, and they had an insane female beatbox champion, Butterscotch, that basically blew my mind. She was better than Rahzel. Crazy bass.

Then Beck did this insane performance, where he was playing but there was an entire set (with lights) for a puppet version of his band. With instruments and everything. The puppets were then on live video on the scrim behind the band. It was awesome. Including a funny interlude short, where the puppets go around LA and a snakes on a plane (snakes on a tour bus) parody.
