The FCC is in Town to Hear From You - So Speak Your Mind

All five commissioners of the FCC will be at USC today and El Segundo High tonight (addresses and times after the jump) discussing media ownership. But LAist believes there's some unfinished business that the public needs to press these speech nannies on.

A little more than two years ago Howard Stern, who at the time was the #1 morning radio personality here in LA was fined by the FCC because he decribed a form of anal/oral sex. The act was called a "blumpkin", which is the unusual practice of a man receiving oral sex while taking a bowel movement.

Right around the same time, Oprah Winfrey had a guest on her tv show who talked about anal/oral sex and was not fined, despite hundreds of complaints. Her guest described the unusual act of "tossing salad" which we understand to be something about licking somones anus area.

To refresh the Commissioners' memories, heres what Oprah and her guest said:

Winfrey: OK--so--OK, so what is a salad toss?

Ms. Burford: OK, a tossed salad is--get ready; hold on to your underwear for this one--oral anal sex. So oral sex to the anus is what tossed salad is...Hi, Mom.

and this is what Howard said:
Stern: Well, a blumpkin is receiving oral sex while you’re sitting on a toilet bowl if you are a man. You’re sitting on a toilet bowl and uh, while you’re evacuating you receive your oral.

Robin Quivers: Ick.

Now Stern's show is aired on the radio in the early mornings, when families are getting ready for work and school. Oprah's show is broadcast in the afternoons on tv, right when kids are coming home from school and are unsupervised in many cases. Our question to the FCC is "why is it that Oprah can describe anal/oral sex and Howard can't?"
