The Ring of Fire

Consider this for a second, a bar that has a happy hour from 11 p.m. till midnight Wednesdays & Thursdays where the drinks are half-price. Then consider this bar is conveniently located in the middle of Hollywood. Then consider it also allows women to dance on the bar itself and in their bird cage. Then consider this same bar's bartenders pouring whiskey all over the bar and setting it on fire. Then consider why you're not going there.

Birds is the quintessential neighborhood bar. You show up. You know everyone. The bartenders know what you're drinking even before you order it. It's the sort of place that once you sleep with one person you've slept with the entire bar. I recommend Birds because it's my favorite place to drink in Los Angeles. They make the strongest drinks and you’d have to do something catastrophic to get cut off or thrown out. There's a patio outside for the smokers and they welcome animals. Plus, they set the damn bar on fire twice last week. Can you beat that?

Birds is located at 5925 Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90028. Tell them Sabrina sent you and they'll treat you right.

The reason I'm not going there is that they are setting the bar on fire while I'm trying to have a drink. Grow up--soon. Fun the first time, but enough already. This is not the first bar to do this. I think they got the idea from the Burgundy Room.

haha, birds. i used to live around the block from there and sadly frequented it more than desired. this place gets old, and gets old real fast. lisa or whatever her name is (the lady behind the bar in the above picture) is great though, but the sublime/doors/pulpfictionsoundtrack obcessed dj needs to go. not to mention the crowd, just above abismal. beechwood yups. on a bright note, i've worn sweats there on countless occasions and still got served so thats good.

I come here every now and then. The bars a lot of fun though it sucks when it's busy. I get dragged here every year for St. Pattys Day.
