Lee Blessing's Two Rooms

Playing this weekend at the Powerhouse Theatre in Santa Monica is (The last three performances of) Lee Blessing's Two Rooms directed by Jamie Wollrab. The Pulitzer nominated play features Dominic Hoffman, Susanna Hall, Greta Seacat, Caleb Moody and music by MC Rai.

The play follows the story of a wife's unending devotion to the return of her husband, a hostage being held in Beruit. She has even gone as far as to create an analogous room in their home to that which her husband is being held. They communicate with one another through their dreams and sheer will to see eachother again. Will they ever see eachother again? Will he be lost to violence in the Middle East or will their heartbreaking will to survive and be together win out in the end?

Featuring the Arabic Electronica of MC Rai the play promises to be as engrossing as it is moving. His performances between scenes ensures the forward momentum of the play and never are you left detached from the themes or setting.
