After a summer-long audition, the Rockstar band formerly known as Supernova finally chose a singer tonight: Lukas Rossi.
It wasn't a surprise that Magni was the first of the final four to go. Though he performed his blistering rendition of "Fire" again, American audiences never really connected with the man from Iceland. We were a little more surpised that likeable Aussie beefcake Toby got booted next.
So it came down to Dilana and Lukas (who Dave Navarro said looked like they were headed out to a goth wedding). And between the two, Lukas gave the best performance of the evening with "Bittersweet Symphony." He'll fit in with the band just fine. We're not crying for Dilana though. They asked her to go on tour with the house band and Gilby Clarke offered to co-write and produce her album. LAist thinks she'll do fine as a solo artist.
What we are wondering, though, is what the boys were really talking about during their "deliberations." If they're about to make an important decision regarding their band's future, don't you think they would have made up their minds already or at least talked everything through before the show? Pepperoni or sausage? Jim Beam or Jack Daniels? How can we get Lukas to stop convulsing on stage?
Well, congratulations to Tommy Lee and the boys for finding their new lead singer. And maybe with Lukas up front, they can get Maybelline on board as a tour sponsor.

I missed tonight's finale and didn't start watching the show until a month or so ago (and got hooked despite the total cheese factor) but I just don't get the appeal of Lukas. The guy's whole look and act is totally contrived and I found him completely and utterly annoying. A consummate poser.
Oh, wait...he'll fit right in with that band.
The reason they pretended to deliberate (and the reason they made a show about respecting their fans' wishes) was because it was already leaked weeks ago that Lukas was already chosen to be their frontman.
Tom, it's too bad you missed the first half of the season, thats when Lukas pulled away from the rest of the group. Actually he dominated immediately and it was his to lose so he never really did anything outrageous after it became obvious that the band loved him and so did the crowd.
Personally I wish they had gotten a few more outrageous characters to compete against him, because of the whole group he was the only true rock star capable performer. the others were either pretty boys, slutrockers, or coldplay copycats - not really the type that would fit in with Metalica/Guns/Crue.
Yeah, it was pretty clear from the first night of performances that Lukas was the one to beat.
I found it especially interesting as weeks went on that Dilana tried to screw him over with song selections on a number of occasions. Toby was trying to morph into Lukas. And Magni said in an interview on Canadian TV that Lukas fit the band like a glove and they should choose him.
Now, I think [Supernova] should let Lukas re-write as many of their songs as possible.
I like the show, but the main problem with it is that it should be fairly obvious after the first few weeks who's on the short list. They can start with 15, then go down to 10, then 7, then 5, 3, and 1; that should be plenty of time to figure out who they want for the band rather than letting some inevitable also-ran hang around for 10 weeks.
not a big lukas fan, but whatever....
was kind of confused when the band said they had to go with the "rocker" who had the most fan votes and then announced Lukas was the winner, but in the beginning of the show, wasn't the only "rocker" not in the bottom 3, Dilana? Wouldn't that mean that SHE got the most votes and not Lukas?
Or should I have rewound my Tivo instead of hitting delete?
Or maybe I should spend my time wondering about more important matters?
this show is a joke. they picked the absolute WORST both times.
luKas (wtf with that 'k'?) is totally ridiculous.
tom, i wholeheartedly agree with your statement:
"The guy's whole look and act is totally contrived and I found him completely and utterly annoying. A consummate poser."
the band is off to a good start at being a joke.
so what's their name going to be now?
I watched the show from night one and have never understood Lukas. Just think he is an awful awful singer. And honestly, for that reason, I am happy he won. I wouldn't want someone I actually liked to end up with Supernova (or whatever they will eventually be named)...
xtx: At the beginning of the show, Brooke said that everyone but Dilana had been in the bottom two AT SOME POINT during the voting process. So, clearly Dilana never dipped below second most votes, but Lukas ended up with the most at the end.
