LAist managed to stop crying for a few minutes last night (over our girl Zayra’s shocking departure last week) to tune into the latest episode of Rockstar: Supernova. So Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted are continuing their search for a singer to front their band. Here’s what we got left:
Storm Large (yes, again, that’s the name she uses): Good singer, but a little too karaoke for our taste. She’s definitely the show’s resident drama queen. Her rendition of Aerosmith’s “Cryin’” showed us how good of a singer Stephen Tyler really is.
Toby Clark: Yummy Aussie beefcake. He put together an interesting arrangement of Clapton’s “Layla” last night – and as Tommy Lee pointed out, the chicks really dig him.
Ryan Star: The dark, brooding musician who’s piqued our interest lately. He sung an original song of his last night – a romantic ditty about doing it in the backseat of a car. The band asked why the radical improvement over the last few weeks. His answer: “I got laid.” That definitely scored points with Supernova. But he’s got to ease up on the mascara.
Patrice Pike: She also wrote the song she sang last night. We can’t really remember what it was about, but we don’t much care because she’s probably the next to go.
Magni: The ice man from Iceland performed Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” decently. He seems like a really nice family man, level-headed and well-liked by everyone – so how does that fit in with the rock’n’roll lifestyle?
And finally our two favorites:
Dilana took a really mellow song – “Every Breath You Take” by the Police – and put her lower register, breathy Stevie Nicks-esque voice stamp on it. While we don’t think that this was one of her better performances, she surely knows how to captivate an audience.
Lukas Rossi (photo) sang the Killers’ “All These Things” and started out strong vocally, but was a little off toward the end of the performance. In general, Lukas comes off as an arrogant punk who can’t dance for crap – and the Supernova boys love it. He could be the favorite right now. But, again, his too much makeup bugs us. Remember boys: a little goes a long way.
Tonight one of them will get the boot – and we’ll be surprised if it’s someone other than Patrice.*
*Late add: Sorry Patrice fans, she was booted off the show tonight..."Middle of the Road" probably isn't the right song choice for anyone trying to stand out on this show.

Yes I agree with you, this is will be surely a rockstar supernova.
Patrice is my favorite for this extraordinary event.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me !
Patrice is forgettable.
Storm Large has a strong voice, but, her name is Storm Large.
Dilana scares me a little.
I've tried to like Lukas, but I just can't get past his five head.
random thoughts..sorry.
i totally agree with your takes. i had no idea how hard it was to sing like Stephen Tyler until the other night when Storm, a woman, couldnt hit those notes - and thats always been one of my favorite songs.
anways i love the little toronto dude. even though he reminds me too much of a Billy Idol troll doll when the lights hit him wrong.
and i miss my girl who you ran out!!
Just to clarify, Storm Large is not an ansumed name. It is her offical, given at birth by her father, name.
Just wondering if someone will let me know who was eliminate??? Please, pretty please!
that happens tonight, megdanmak
They should just bring back Zayra, not so she can be the lead singer - she's much too talented to be fronting a cliche bore of a band - but just to have something good to watch on this show.
That'd be nice.
i feel that patrice should have been out last week. where as Zayra is a better singer than patrice. dilana just showed 'the horrific dove' she is, to the whole world. magni is my fav. but his performance wasn't to good. ryan 'the dark horse' star stole the limelight. next to go would either be toby or storm.
Hey! What up? I love Lukas and Dilana. They are my favorite singers. As for Storm Large, she is great also. I just love watching this show! It ROCKS!!
