A.M. News: Fictional LA, New Valley, Malibu Blog, Orange Crush & More

What do Pee-Wee Herman, Johnny "Drama," and Alice Nelson from the Brady Bunch all have in common? They are part of Blogging.la's Fictional LA series that has been running since Monday. 25 in total, today is the last day. Who will be the #1 Los Angeles fictional character?

Lots of buzz going on about the new ValleyNews.com. We did a test run last night and a few bugs and design elements aside, this site has the potential to own the Valley. (LACityNerd, LA Voice, LAO)

LAO brings on its sixth blog with LAist one-time/post contributor - Veronique de Turenne. Anyway, it's called Here in Malibu, not to be confused with Here in Van Nuys. Because... you know, those two hoods are pretty much the same in one.

"It looks as if they want to move the Orange Crush north, where it will be known as the L.A. Crush."

“Are we prepared? Were we prepared? The answer is yes,” said Chief Bratton when asked about yesterday's threat level.

The Press-Telegram has a pretty cool 25 second flash video showing Long Beach SWAT and their big guns (pictured above) at the Long Beach Airport.

Of course, lots of coverage about yesterday... LA Times, Daily News, NPR, etc.

As someone who drives the 5North from OC to LA on a regular basis, it already bottlenecks at the area they are referring to due to all the exit lanes immediately after the 91 interchange. Should Orange County really put off their plans to improve freeways in their own county (which their taxpayers are paying for of their own volition) because LA County can't keep up? I also drive the 22 nearly everyday and the speed and efficiency of that construction project is amazing.
