A.M. News: SF Quake, West Valley, City Council & Rabbits

SFist was there for the 4.4 Earthquake in the Bay Area, which is a good reason to visit The L.A. Times' EQ coverage archive.

LA City Beat combs through the West Valley and finds that it's not so bad. They even talk up Follow Your Heart, which we mentioned last week. That plus Figueroa Street, 818 movies and ‘What is your favorite, secret treasure of Los Angeles?’

LA Weekly reports on the convictions of members in the Avenues gang clique known as the Aves 43. This is the first use of a federal hate-crime statute against a street gang by the U.S. Attorney's Office. The L.A. Times finds that the effort to rid LA of gangs is failing.

Come November, we could be voting on two proposed laws, packaged together like a consent calendar, that would extend term limits and put new restrictions on campaign contributions. City Attorney, Rocky Delgadillo is not happy. The Ethics Commission is not happy. What will Antonio do?

The Daily News profiles a city council meeting. To us, this feels like the Australian House of Commons - chaos minus a midget in a tuxedo. At least Zuma Dogg was there.

What? "People buy rabbits for 15 bucks and they cook them and eat them," Herb Wesson says. "So, by increasing the price, you're hopeful that individuals are actually doing this because they want to have a pet."

How do they over look the E.T. as an 818 movie and even Poltergeist...For shame!
