Mel Gibson Round-up: Cover-up? Sugar Tits? Who Really Owns Malibu?

Sheriff Lee Baca reportedly asked that the arresting deputy re-write the arrest report so as to withhold the anti-Semitic statements Mel Gibson allegedly delivered early Friday morning, TMZ.com says.
Sources tell TMZ that Lt. Crystal Miranda told the arresting deputy that Captain Tom Martin talked to Sheriff Lee Baca who expressed concern that the explosive report might leak to the media and that it needed to be re-written in a sanitized form.Top Hollywood Agent Ari Emanuel says that all of Hollywood should boycott Gibson, even if it means losing money.
Now we know the truth. And no amount of publicist-approved contrition can paper it over. People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or gentile, need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him, even if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line. There are times in history when standing up against bigotry and racism is more important than money.
Anti-Defamation League wants an investigation of Gibson for Hate Crimes. "We believe there should be consequences to bigots and bigotry," national director Abraham Foxman said.
Two years ago, Oracle head Larry Ellison bought a half dozen properties in Malibu's "Billionaires Beach" including a restaurant-zoned property that the founder of Gladstone's called "the equivalent of Park Place and Boardwalk." So if anyone owns Malibu, Mel, we'd say it's the guy who spent $1,850 per square foot after snatching up five other Malibu beachside dreamhomes. One that he bought just because he liked the pool.
Sugar Tits: Tabloid Baby provides an excellent overview of the term of endearment. Does Mel kiss the mother of his seven kids with that mouth?

Wait a minute, isn't all of this Mel-is-anti-semitic info based solely on one website? Has any reputable source vouched the info? Maybe he is but it sure does seem odd that as soon as some unknown site makes the claim, all the local news run with it.

TMZ is owned by Time Warner AOL. thats why not only the local news is running with it, but why every other news source believes it too.

I wouldn't believe the drive by media as Rush Limbaugh calls them as far as I could throw cake under water. They have done nothing in the past forty years or so but lie, mislead, omit, and even go as far as actually fabricate material, just to further their cause, which is in my opinion Anti-American. Why don't we wait until Mel actually tells us himself.

Now now boys, stay on topic.
I've tasted many a tit and can't say they've been sugar-like, but always sweet.

And man, check out that Osama Bin Gibson pic at the bottom.

Tony Pierce should get an award for cramming so many irrelevant cliches into one comment. As if a drunken driving story has anything to do with Bush and WMD. Get over the elections already, loser.

I agree with Emmanual that there is no room for racism in Hollywood or anywhere else. But it does seem disingenous that an industry which trades on anti-black racism for years, and surely contains many, many anti-black bigots, is not calling for a boycott of someone. It seems that Mel has the misfortune of choosing the wrong race to be racists against. It's also an industry which has in the past 30 years had approximately 100,000 Arab villains and zero non-animated Arab heroes.
Again, I am not excusing Mel or saying that people should give him a break or anything like that! But I am saying that like so much else in Hollywood, there is more then a whiff of hypocrisy in calls for a boycott of Mel.

There is no way that Mel Gibson should be boycotted. A confessed alcoholic should not be held to his incoherent ramblings whist in the middle of a bender. Of course, it's embarrassing that he's shown himself to be anti-semetic (when he's drunk!), but he also thought he owned Malibu and called a cop "sugartits." When the first comment is taken in the context of the other two outrageous comments, you have to admit that it's comedy. Clearly, he's delusional (about still being sexy enough to pull an arresting officer with the old "sugartits" line and being King of the Malabuans), and, yes, he may have some personal issues with certain Jews (although to my mind "the Passion" wasn't antisemetic, and the A-DL still tried to prevent everyone from seeing it... Touche!). So, Mel has issues that need to be worked out through 12 steps and reconcilliation not through boycott or blacklisting. The A-DL is trying to nuke him, and I find that a little McCarthyist. Listen up, boys! He's already done the damage; There is no need to pile on.
He apologized straight away, and threw himself at the mercy of public opinion. He's a drunk, he's already down, and he shouldn't be kicked.

Very, very, very true. Hollywood still works with Spike Lee, after all, who in the past has made a number of bigoted comments about whites.
Gibsons comments are shameful, but how seriously can anyone take the tirades of a drunken old man?

1.3 blood alcohol level is legally drunk but does it make you say crazy things that arent in your heart?
1.3 is like 4-5 drinks. a normal drinking night for most. i dont know about you, but this old man has had scores of "normal drinking nights" and ive never said anything remotely like this.
when Gibson reportedly said that he was "fucked" in the back of that sheriff's car, he was right on the money.

I think whether or not anti-Semitism is in Gibson's heart is debatable, but what isn't debatable is that different people react differently when drunk.
If, as you indicate, Gibson wasn't really drunk - just technically drunk - and that he had his wole wits about him, I would agree that his actions may be unforgivable.
But it sounds like he was a little more trashed than what would constitute as the "legal limit". And even if he has a disdain for Jews in his subconcious, I would argue that most of us, unfortunately, have prejudices withing ourselves that we often have to keep in check. Not so that we're politically correct, but because sometimes you have to work to fight these same false prejudices.

heres what i have to keep in check when im buzzed bordering on drunk: kissing fugly girls
heres what i have to keep in check when im drunk: walking, barfing, peeing on the rim of the bowl
i do not turn into a Yankee fan, i do not start praying to the devil, i do not start loving Coldplay all of a sudden.
the "legal" limit was established mostly to determine how many drinks you can have before you cant operate a car. i dont know about you, but ive been buzzed before, ive been drunk before, and ive been around LOTS of drunk people in my time. never have i heard anyone talk about "the jews" or any other group while drunk who didnt already have issues with that group.
mel's toast.
