I should add I can't f-ing stand perez hilton or his classless gossip blog. in this instance alone, fixating on someones sexuality and slandering him in the process, esp. with perez being a gay man, is disgusting and shows what a trashy smut whore he is.

It's more about the fact that Perez relentlessly called Lance a fag, asked when he was gonna come out already, posted photos of he and his boyfriend in the same clothing, posted photos labeled "fag" etc. etc. for months. He was relentless and cruel about forcing poor Lance out of the closet, and that is just wrong. Lance has said in this People article that the one thing he hates is that his mother had to find out he was gay via the web. Forcing someone out before their ready is a crime.

yeah - agree with david - it's similar to ethnicities calling each other slang words others can't really say. it's off-color and I don't agree with it, but nothing shocking.

A few thoughts: 1. Whats the difference between Hilton catching wind that People was going to report this vs. other bloggers repeating what Perez said? I agree that stealing another writer's story is wrong - heck, it made Drudge what he is today - but this is what all gossip bloggers do... at least Perez isn't outting someone who doesn't want to be outted. 2. Fags call each other fags. Don't see how this is meanspirited. 3. I wonder how much Lance's sexuality played into his inability to go into space?
