The Submarines @ Hotel Cafe 7/18

LAist has seen it all.

The Jackson 5, The Police, every Beastie Boys tour, Gwar, Nirvana, Tsar, you name it...

so sometimes when we go out to a club to see something we might arrive a little late or grumpy or not as stoked as the fan club, and annoyed about how theres seating infront of the stage, but pleased that theres Stella on tap, but generally we're not the best audience.

The Hotel Cafe was packed to see a young husband and wife sing songs about their romance, breakup, and reconsiliation. She's blonde with cute braids, he's mellow and has bushy hair. They've got a buddy on keyboards.

The fear going into it is that it will be too sweet. Fortunately not only is it not too sweet, it's sorta the sweetest thing ever.

The sad songs are sad. They both have a few of those. Only sometimes do they sing together. She looks at him. He looks at the ground.

The crowd of youngins sighed and melted and were completely won over by Ms. Blake Hazard who sang beautifully and gently.

At times the tunes sounded like adorable gen-x lullabyes.

Everyone on dates got laid when they got home.
