Barone's 2nd Welcoming: Robbed at Gunpoint

barones2.jpg

Two weeks ago when we visited Barone's on its re-grand opening for some tasty Valley pizza, we witnessed turf war tagging on the restaurant's back white wall. Not a great welcome for the restaurant in Valley Glen.

To add to the fun, two armed men in ski masks robbed Barone’s last night. No one was hurt and $4,000 was lost. Owner Tom Monteleone told CBS 2 that "we only lost money, which is replaceable."

No one should think Valley Glen is a bad neighborhood: plenty of restaurants along Ventura Blvd., where Barone's used to be, have been robbed in a similar fashion, including Mel's Diner. Is this just a case of a cursed Woodman/Oxnard location, bad karma, or just plain bad luck surrounded by great pizza.
