Hermosa Shorts, Southbay's only Film Festival

The Hermosa Shorts Film Festival is kickin' ass in its third year, hoping to outdo last year’s balls-to-the-wall blowout. Tom Kearney and Greg Wyatt are teaming up again, and have tons of “extras”, enough to make an indie-film-fanatic satiated from head to toe. August 11, 12, and 13 are just around the corner, so make room on your calendars!!!

The Screen Writing, Film Production, and Final Cut workshops are hosted by award-winning, accomplished teachers who are in the tops of their relative fields. There will also be panel discussions on topics including editing, lighting, and industry issues. Everyone who went last year said it was badass, and that they can use what they learned forever.

Forever man… fuckin’ forever.

There will be many great shorts this year, submitted from local and international filmmakers. Perhaps because this is the South bay’s ONLY film festival, it has attracted worldwide attention. Outdoing 2005's Festival is as good as a sure thing.

LAist emailed Tom to ask him some questions, and we never heard back from him, but such is the nature of a busy guy, chin-deep in the world’s finest movie shorts; many specifics are still blurry. But there are supposed to be fine foods from fancy Southbay restaurants.

Laist is gonna be there to cover the goings on, and to interview some big shots. But we’d go even if we didn’t have this tremendous sense of duty to our readers. What can we say???

WE LOVE KILLER FILM SHORTS. And who doesn’t, anyway?
