<description>&lt;p&gt;This morning it was brought to my attention that the mess between LA, Hooters of Hollywood and NOW was brought on by one mans political agenda. Daniel Guss has an entire web site dedicated to having the GM of LA Animal Services, Ed Boks, fired and replaced by Laura Beth Heisen. He misrepresented the event in a letter he sent to NOW, the National Organization for Women saying it was Boks idea and creating this frenzy we are now in.

This is the letter and link to &quot;Mayor Daniel&apos;s&quot; (as he calls himself) website.
I think its appalling that someone who is so dedicated to saving the lives of animals will sabotage an effort to raise money for animals for his own political agenda. The city of Los Angeles did not approach us about this event. The event was already to be held but we at Hooters of Hollywood decided to donate the proceeds to a very worthy establishment. Fortunately for the puppies and kitties the money that is being raised will still help the animals of LA by going to The Amanda Foundation, a similar organization but one that does not look down its nose at the money we are raising.
All and all we feel discriminated against and are offended by the comments being made about our commitment to the community. Hooters has always been very active in fund raising and charity events. Hooters of Hollywood personally raised money for the Hurricane relief, the MDA and the Salvation Army. We have also sent packages to our troops overseas as have many of the 350+ Hooters locations around the US. We do not appreciate being made to feel second class with all we do for the community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

Natalie Lynch
Marketing Coordinator
