Legal, Inexpensive Day Laborers at Several Home Depots

Interested in getting some cheap day labor to help you move a couch, or clear out the garage, or repair a fence? Not so crazy about picking up random "illegal aliens" who swarm your car at the Home Depot and then sweating it out as you drive them to your home?

LA County has a handful of regulated alternatives where you can get the help you need at a reasonable rate (about $10/hr), and the best part is you're using documented American workers who are currently unemployed.

In the parking lots of Home Depot in North Hollywood, Harbor City, Ladera Heights, Hollywood, and Woodland Hills there are small tents where one can hire a day laborer, legally and safely thanks to a program co-sponsored by the City of LA. Not only is the program working well, but some have reported that crime/shoplifting is dropping at the Home Depots thanks to the extra presence of workers, and in return the workers are allowed access to bathrooms at the stores, English and electrical tutorials, as well as the ability to participate in organic gardens.
