Howard Stern Disses the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Ryan Seacrest Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame This morning on the Howard Stern Show the king of all media read a statement written by a former Clear Channel radio personality who is now on a mission to get Stern a star on Hollywood Blvd.

In the statement, "Mad Radio Show" host Wayne Perry concludes that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce charges $15,000 to nominate someone for a star, but he suggests they raise about twice that to persuade the decision-making. Howard then stopped reading and he said that he doesn't want to have to persuade anyone, which got co-host Robin Quivers to question one of the latest selections in radio for the Walk of Fame:

Robin: They accepted Ryan Seacrest and they had no problem with that?
Howard: Of course not. He fits into their plan nicely. The homogenization of America.
Robin: But is that a star?
Hours later in the show he kicked around the idea again.
Howard: Robin, do I really want a star on the Walk of Fame?
Robin: I don't think you would mind having a star. Why not?
Howard: Well Rick Dees has one. I mean... Ryan Seacrest...
Robin: Robert Duvall also has one.
Howard: He does?
George Takei: Marlon Brando has one.
Robin: Yes there are stars on the Walk of Fame.
And then later he summed up his feelings: "For Ryan Seacrest to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his radio career before mine makes the whole thing a joke. There's no comparison between my career and his."

But then Howard eventually mumbled under his voice, "I guess if the guy put it together I wouldn't decline."

Finally he admitted that the real reason he wouldn't want the star is because you're required to attend the unveiling, and he doesn't want to come to California.

Then it was revealed that Judge Judy is getting a star this year even though Clint Eastwood doesn't have one.

Farting sounds were then played.

Not to mention that Rodney Bingenheimer doesn't have one, but Ryan Seacrest does. If it weren't for Rodney on the Roq the face of music would be completely different today.

Who cares about howard stern? When you really think about it, yes, he has been around for a while, but he hasn't done anything worth any real merit. California doesn't want howard stern anywhere near it...they should just send him off to space along with his satellite radio. It's funny how bitter people act!

Hasn't done anything worth merit? How about completely changing the radio industry. Twice. When he came on the scene, and when he bailed for satellite. Screw the walk of fame, it's a joke.

excellent ending.....

Yeah, the presence of Seacrest kind of sullies it for everyone else.

The campaign for Rodney stalled last year. Here's the site that was rallying to get the Mayor of the Sunset Strip a little recognition a few blocks north: rodneyonthewalk.com

With the help of the Kevin & Bean morning show on KROQ, this guy managed to raise the entire $15,000 in less than an hour through listener contributions.

I can't imagine who'd give money to get Cheesecrest a star.

I've decided to start my own Walk of Fame. I've cleared the trash cans and garden hose from the side yard and have a nice 8x30' slab of concrete ready. Stars will cost only $5000.

any man don't wanta get killed... better clear on out the back.

Howard Stern should definitely get a star on the walk of fame. He's had tremendous talent and success for a very long time. I don't know why Ryan Seacrest has his own star. He's a great host, but I feel like he hasn't come close to proving his longevity yet to warrant a permanent place on the walk. I'm sure Howard wouldn't mind coming out to LA if he got a star. But they had better close down all of Hollywood Blvd to accomodate all of the fans who will be there.
