Coffee break news: skeletons, disaster and two good bloggers

lionskeleton.jpg

natural/national - The Daily News reports on another Exposition Park tenant speaking out against an NFL team (possibly) moving in next door at the Coliseum. The funny thing: they say the protestor is the National History Museum. But they mean the museum with all the taxidermied animals and dinosaur skeletons. Oops. Natural History.

another body? - Investigators believe there may be another death tied to the two little old ladies who made a habit of taking out life insurance policies on men from church, then running them over. 97-year-old Fred Downie had moved from his home in Massachusetts to the Santa Monica apartment of one of the women when he was struck by a car; he died of his injuries a month later.

oh, that's helpful - The County of Los Angeles has a special plan for helping people with special needs survive a disaster, such as an earthquake. Want to get a pamphlet so you can help prepare your loved ones? Sorry. The County doesn't have the $30,000 it would take to print them.

genuinely helpful - We love that the LAFD and LAPD are blogging. And so does Channel 2 - they go behind the scenes with the municipal organizations' bloggers — with extra web video, of course.
