It's the Valley's newer shortcut

Back in April, we told you about SUV's cruising the L.A. River. But we had no visual proof. Now we do.

It's an alternative to the Valley's already "shortcut", and we know it's only reserved for those DWP people, but can we dream? It just looks so fun!

Holy crap that's awesome!

Two words, perhaps one word, but I don't know if it's a hyphenate or a compound or not.

Grass Roots. Let's start a campaign to open the LA river to everyone! I can just see my little honda gettinng flooded out every time more than a 1/4" of rain falls (which is only twice a year, I suppose)

A plumber was here recently. He sent a high powered stream of water through our pipes to clear them out. He said the water sends all the backedup sewage to the LA river. So, although it seems like a smart alternative to traffic, your garage floor might become home to some interesting tire and under carriage cling-ons.

Just to clarify, the LA River is not under the jurisdiction of DWP, but rather, the County Dept. of Public Works (Flood Control District). So those would be the vehicles you see in the channel. Additionally, the only thing that gets "sent" to the LA River is anything washed into the storm drain system (or illegal dumped there). So, Roto, if the flush out of your system went into the City Streets, then it ended up in the River. If that was the case, your plummer may want to re-assess his practices.

Thanks for the correction LA City Nerd!

That's awesome. I've wanted to do that for a year. Now, where's the onramp to the river? There's got to be one near riverside drive...

The river onramp is under the 4th street bridge, I think, in downtown. Can anyone confirm?
