Oh That Martha

So now that Martha Stuart is a free woman – free to garden, free to get into fights with the Donald, free to terrorize us with her threats of global domination one marzipan cookie at a time – she has decided to launch – get ready for it – an online social network similar to MySpace. The site will be targeted towards adult women.

Doing a little research LAist found there is actually already a social network aimed at women over 21, sigh, and it’s called Sisterwoman.com. We know this can seem overwhelming, remember when the first group flocked from Friendster? But with the proliferation of new social networking sites online, we have to ask ourselves, who would we flirt with if the network was all based in gushy friendships about what to make for dinner and shortcuts to picking kids up from soccer practice? Ok, ok Martha’s site will also allow women to share scrapbooks and design tips, yippee! Apparently this is a demographic that has just been screaming out for a community all of their own.

We might be generalizing, but do professional women have time to “surf the Web” for the latest stock tips and hottest new restaurant to take colleagues to in Shanghai? That’s what we thought.
