Quotetastic: Spoof You, Man!

"We put them both on because they both deserved to be on. If they weren't on our air, they'd be on somewhere else."

-- Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment, on the two vaguely-fictional-behind-the-scenes-at-Saturday-Night-Live shows by Tina Fey and Aaron Sorkin in NBC's fall lineup, as quoted in the New Orleans Times-Picayune

"Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in."
-- Lyndon Baines Johnson, 37th President of the United States, being Texan, on FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover

Not that we're comparing either of them to Hoover, but if you were NBC, would you want Sorkin or Fey happy at NBC ribbing the network on TV-about-TV at your expense, or going to FOX or the CW and making satire at your expense?

And yeah, we're kind of mocking NBC, but we're excited to see both shows, and glad to see NBC had the sense to try to keep its talented writers happy. Take heed, networks!
