Oh Dobbsy Boy

No Pulitzers. No Peabodys. No Duponts.

But, despite Los Angeles' obsession with the Oscars and red carpet events infrequented by journalists, we do have one award that still carries some weight in the news business.

Or, we did.

The Loeb Awards are generally regarded as the most important business new prizes in the industry. They're handed out annually by the UCLA Anderson School of Management. (That's even though we have USC's Annenberg School, and UC Berkeley's journalism school just up the way).

But this year, the selection committee has decided to hand the host microphone over to none other than "business journalist" Lou Dobbs.

Yes, this is the same man who tonight is screaming about how, as a country, we are on the path to ruin because of our "Broken Borders."

Calling him a nativist would be an understatement. And letting him host an evening to award the best in the world of business news is an oversight, at best.

Even Lou Dobbs can be right once in a lifetime.
This is the case here.
