The Museum of Jurassic Technology holds cabinets of curiosities, worlds of mysteries, and baffling phenomena explained in scientific, if gently obfuscatory, terms. From a humble storefront in Culver City, the MJT has created some of the most interesting artistic-technological-confusing exhibits and ideas circulating today. Maybe that's why the MacArthur Foundation gave its proprietor, David Wilson, one of those genius grants in 2001.
Next Tuesday the reticent Wilson speaks on microminiature art and technology in a lecture entitled "The Eye of the Needle." It's at the Pasadena Museum of History at 7:30pm; tickets are $20.
The Museum of Jurassic Technology is open Thur 2-8pm and Fri-Sun 12-6pm; admittance is $5. It can be found at 9341 Venice Blvd. in Culver City.

Actually, the Museum of Jurassic Technology is in the Los Angeles community of Palms, not Culver City.
CityNerd, I would have called it West LA -- but it says Culver City on their website. Then again, the Museum of Jurassic Technology is rarely straightforward...
i dearly love that place but every time i've gone there most of the exhibits seem broken: buttons do nothing when you push them, lightbulbs need replacing, heaven help anything that relies on a computer to function. haven't been there in a while though - maybe things have been fixed?
Regarding the address for the MJT:
The MJT, like the Masonic Hall, the Center for Land Use Interpretation and Riordan Plumbing, is on the north side of Venice but is serviced by the Culver City Post Office. There are three blocks north of Venice with that "distinction."
I can only surmise that the businesses there asked to be included within the Culver City P.O. as a kind of "branding." Both the city line and the post office boundaries are quite irregular in that area.
Media Park and the Ivy Station are on the south side of Venice, within the Culver City P.O., are leased to Culver City yet are within the limits of L.A. and "patrolled" by the cops at the LAPD Pacific Division, when they have the time. (The Palms LAPD Senior Lead Officer didn't even know he had this duty until about a year ago.)
Half of Culver City's "Main Street" is actually Bagley Avenue within L.A. (Palms) — thus helping to give credence to Culver's claim of having the "shortest Main Street in the world."
