LAist got several tips yesterday about a planned flyover of the M:i:III premiere. An enterprising young man had raised funds online to fly two planes into Hollywood with banners that read "Hail Xenu <3 OT" and "The baby belongs to Xenu." But the planes never showed up, and Tom Cruise's movie premiere went according to plan.
As you probably know, Xenu is the evil alien that is an important figure in some of Scientology's most closely guarded myths. And as you no doubt are aware, Tom Cruise is a Scientologist. And we're guessing you also know that Tom Cruise doesn't like it when people don't take Scientology seriously.
For two hours the desperate fundraiser tried to find out what happened to the planes. The company cashed his check but the planes, with their weisenheimer messages, apparently never took off. The poor fellow never got a straight answer as to why.
Did Cruise or the Church of Scientology make sure those planes were grounded?

Man, that totally sucks. Why must cults stand in the way of brilliant tomfoolery!
The planes were totally grounded - I just know that people in the Tom Cruise entourage society must have at least seen the item at defamer.com about the prank and they put an immediate stop to it.
I really hope his money was refunded.
