Black Horses & Cherry Trees

While listening to dj-less Star 98.7 on our way to work this morning, we heard KT Tunstall’s “Black Horse and The Cherry Tree,” a pop song with folky edges that’s making its way up the charts. (For those who aren’t familiar with the song, it’s the song that contestant Katherine McPhee sang on her knees during American Idol on Tuesday night.)

So this morning we listened closely to the lyrics:

Well my heart knows me better than I know myself So I'm gonna let it do all the talking. (woo-hoo,woo-hoo) I came across a place in the middle of nowhere With a big black horse and a cherry tree. (woo-hoo,woo-hoo)

I felt a little fear, upon my back
I said don't look back, just keep on walking.
(woo-hoo,woo-hoo)
When the big black horse that looked this way,
Said hey lady, will you marry me?
(woo-hoo,woo-hoo)

But I said no, no, no,no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no,no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me

Sure, we understand what she means, kind of, but we wished we hadn’t read this boy-horse love story earlier this week. Ewww. Yeah, LAist took it there.
