Day With A Minuteman

laist_minuteman.jpg

In response to the pro-amnesty (is that the ultimate political goal of the rallies?) marches on Monday, the Minuteman Project is starting a 12 city caravan to Washington DC today. It launches off from Los Angeles and will visit Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Tennessee, Alabama and Virginia before reaching the Nation's Capitol on May 12th where they will ask for tougher border control and laws.

While most of the marchers on Monday wore white t-shirts as their uniform, the Minutemen prefer bulletproof vests.

We hope their caravan is successful. We love when Americans make public displays of their political and concerns. That's when we know (and hope) that democracy is working.

That said, we're curious about this:

"We'll never get a million Americans out on the streets. You couldn't," said Magnotto, founder of the Minuteman spin-off Minutewomen on the Road. "But if one in 100 people that we meet up with kind of get it and see that we're nice family people I will be thrilled."

While the Minuteman Project might debate how many people in the streets across the nation were documented Americans, we're pretty sure the Mall in Washington DC has seen millions of Americans out for issues before.

The Minutemen want to appear more friendly?

Here's my advice: Make a MySpace profile!

(They already have a theme song - http://www.minibite.com/ebony/oneminuteman.htm)

If they are so damn patriotic they should stop screwing around and head out to Iraq.

Yeah, because that's ALL it means to be patriotic! You must fight in a war!

The Minuteman patrols are a wonderful, patriotic organization that signifies resistence to federal Treason, because they refuse to seal our borders. Their huge public outcry is finally getting average people to do something, before the open border zealots, free trade crazies tear America apart. Minuteman fought the invasion of King George Third, occupation, likewise they are building an army to halt the silent invasion that threatens to destroy everything, every American GI has given his life for since.

Each year, the world's population jumps by 80 million. America's population surges 3.3 million per year--almost all from third-world immigrants and their offspring By 2050, if current trends continue, America's population will approach HALF A BILLION. California alone adds 600,000 annually By 2030, California will be saddled with 55 million crowded people. * An endless line is always waiting to enter America. Since the 1965 Immigration Reform Act, over 60 million have come here. And there are always more waiting with no end in sight The number of foreign-born in America has tripled since 1970. The average Mexican immigrant in his lifetime consumes $55,200 more in services than he pays in taxes. Legal and illegal immigrants sent $56 billion of our dollars abroad last year (2004)--$15 billion to Mexico, $25 billion to South America, and $16 billion to Asia. The drug cartels took another $100 billion. * Unlike America, Mexico has immigration laws that are very strict. It is pro-sovereignty and anti-bilingual. Illegals are quickly deported and receive no benefits.

This guy clearly does not understand that the comments section of a blog is meant to be glib.

So, um...back to the jokes!
